The Need
HBL was the first commercial bank to be established in Pakistan in 1947. Over the years, HBL has grown its branch network and become the largest private sector bank with over 1,500 branches and 1,000 ATMs across the country and a customer base exceeding five million relationships.

To drive increased growth in the business Habib Bank Limited wanted to connect and manages Interactions Between Disparate Technologies and systems and wanted to move ahead of their competitors and increase business agility in a dynamic financial-services environment.

The Challenges
Sapphire's main challenge was to provide quality OSB/SOA Suite development services. It also needed to prove to Oracle that Sapphire's had the knowledge and skills for this kind of project.

As the Sapphire's team entered into a project with a major client, they knew going into it that it would be challenging and that some difficulties would be encountered. However, these kinds of issues are normal aspects of a project that Sapphire’s is well prepared to handle. At the beginning of the project, the client didn't have any development procedures defined. It also had a tight schedule and a huge amount of services to build. The client had little to no knowledge of the Oracle resources and technology that was being used in the project.

The Solution
Implemented middleware via Oracle SOA Suite to integrate Internet Banking, Core Banking, SMS, E-statements, Credit Card and Cash Management systems.

Benefit
By Using standards-based integration tools in Oracle Service Bus now HBL can connect and manage the interaction between disparate technologies.

Leveraged a services-based architecture to support multichannel access for numerous services.
Centralized SOA interaction governance.

Used Oracle SOA Suite’s hot-pluggable infrastructure to integrate existing IT systems and maximize their business value for developing new services for customers.

Ensured continued ability to procure best-of-breed solutions from multiple vendors when purchasing new IT solutions, which enables the bank to purchase the best solutions on the market, irrespective of vendor.
The integration successfully build and go-live.
